2010 Reunion

It’s inspiring to see how the Hans Raj Model School Alumni Association (HRMSAA) became a trailblazer within the DAV network, showcasing the power of alumni engagement and the heartfelt dedication it requires to sustain such efforts. The January 2010 reunion, featuring Dr. Nisha Peshin and a vibrant gathering of HRMS principals, teachers, alumni, and staff, was a testament to the sense of community and joy these associations can foster.

Dr. Peshin’s recognition of HRMSAA’s success led to a wider initiative to replicate the model across DAV institutions. While ambitious, this project’s reliance on a commercial Event Management company highlighted a key truth: authentic alumni associations thrive on passion, not profits. As the commercial approach shifted priorities towards ticketed reunions and sponsor-driven events, the initial vision of fostering grassroots connections across DAV schools faded.

HRMSAA’s executive team rightly emphasised the heart-centered ethos behind successful alumni associations. Their willingness to share insights and experiences with DAVCMC reflects the association’s deep commitment to its values. This dedication stems from the love for their alma mater and the respect for the educators who shaped their journeys—values that cannot be replaced by financial motives.

The story of HRMSAA serves as a reminder that the most meaningful alumni associations are built not on commercial expectations but on genuine connections, collective memories, and a shared desire to give back.
